Online Therapy for Women

Online therapy is offered via google meet. It offers a warm, compassionate and focused space within which to express and process difficult feelings, as well as create new and more helpful ways of relating to both yourself and others. It is a space where you are encouraged to voice feelings and thoughts that may be confusing or hard to articulate in the company of friends and family. We will work collaboratively to address your difficulties and find ways to process, overcome and resolve them

.

Perinatal Mental Health Therapy

This involves weekly online therapy to address any form of perinatal distress you are experiencing. This can include depression, anxiety, eating disorders, low self-esteem, body image issues and birth trauma etc. Sessions can also focus on addressing problems associated with bonding with your baby, maternal identity issues, couple/family related issues as well as breast feeding difficulties. Perinatal mental health therapy can also support mothers who are survivors of sexual abuse to manage the process of pregnancy and birth.

Supporting Maternity Staff

As a perinatal psychologist with several years experience supporting new mothers, I have a comprehensive understanding of how many of my clients have experienced maternity care and the maternity system. As such I am well placed to support maternity staff with understanding the psychological needs of mothers during their pregnancy, intrapartum and postpartmum periods. This often features in my therapeutic work with them and can often be the things that makes or breaks their experience of giving birth and starting the process of adjusting to having extended their family. This means I can support midwives, sonographers and obstetricians to understand how their work intersects with perinatal mental health and ensuring trauma informed care as many womens experiences do have a profound impact on the mental health journey post birth.

Clinical Supervision

I support trainee psychologists and therapists to develope their clinical judgment and authentic styles as a practitioner. There is space to discuss the mechanics of delivering therapy, learning about different therapeutic models, cultivating reflexivity and self awareness and understanding how to respond and make sense of the interpersonal dynamics in the room in a way that works towards the clients goals for therapy. I can also guide in supporting with risk assessments and safety plans for clients who may struggle with suicidal ideation and self harm.
